The Continuum Center for Health & Healing at the Beth Israel Medical Center integrates "complementary
and alternative approaches which address the mind, body and spirit in restoring health." The Center's components include Integrative, Functional & Holistic Nutrition, Acupuncture & East Asian Medicine, Mind-Body Services, Complementary & Alternative Therapies, Traditional & Indigenous Healing Systems, and the Urban Zen Initiative, this last component funded by a major donation from fashion designer Donna Karan. "The Urban Zen grant will cover feng shui-inspired physical renovations,
yoga therapy, holistic nursing training, a patient navigator to help
guide patients through the often complex process of cancer care . . . " Research at the Center includes clinical trials on topics ranging from relaxation therapies to acupuncture.
